Callum Murray - Berlin Summit Interview

Founder, Amiqus

Callum Murray

Ich Heise Callum und Ich Wohne in Schotland. Mein Geschaft heist Amiqus Resolution. Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut. (I am Callum and I live in Schotland. My business is Amiqus Resolution. My German is not that good.)

What do you think about when you’re driving alone?

I'm more of a train, tram or plane person. Living in Edinburgh means my car is usually parked up. Either the parking attendants in Edinburgh are running a hate campaign against me or they're highly efficient.

If I've got some time and a long drive, I'll have some books from audible to take in on my ipod. I'm part of a book meetup with some mates from the CanDo Scale programme and we cover one a month.

What would you do if you had an Elephant that you couldn't sell and couldn't give away?

I'd call him Gary, statistically Gary's are becoming rare so it'd be good to highlight that. If it was a girl she'd be called Agnes. Either way, I'd want to find him a good place to stay. I'm usually in Leith so maybe the botanic gardens in Edinburgh would be nice. Bit closer than the zoo.

What's the most exciting thing you are working on right now?

At my day job, we're making civil justice accessible. I think thats pretty exciting.

In my spare time I'm training to row 200 miles nonstop for 3 days from Barcelona to Ibiza in July for a cancer charity. I'm completely new to ocean rowing, navigation & sea survival so it's also..Exciting

What would you like to do when you grow up?

I'd like to be 'that Scottish guy who made the online thing that makes it easy to fix legal problems'. Letting people understand and resolve conflict is pretty hard and time consuming so I'm growing up along the way.

What attracted you to join us in Berlin?

I heard about the hero's and winners that are going and got involved right away.

I also absolutely believe that Scotland is the best place to start and grow a company. I'm always keen to learn how to improve, sounds like we can learn some lessons from Berlin.
